Rizen — Privacy Policy

Last updated: 14 September 2026

The short version

Rizen doesn't have accounts, doesn't run ads, doesn't use analytics or tracking software, and doesn't send your data anywhere. Your alarms, settings, and stats live on your device and stay there. The only permissions Rizen asks for exist to run wake-up challenges and alarms — not to collect information about you.

Information Rizen does not collect

Rizen has no sign-up, no login, and no user accounts. It doesn't use any analytics, advertising, or crash-reporting SDKs. It has no servers of its own and doesn't transmit your alarms, challenge data, wake-up stats, or any personal information to Barnseyy or to any third party.

What's stored, and where

Everything Rizen needs — your alarms, challenge choices, wake scores, streaks, and app settings — is saved locally on your device using on-device storage (AsyncStorage). None of it leaves your phone. Uninstalling the app, or clearing its storage in your device settings, permanently deletes it.

Camera

Rizen asks for camera access to run two optional wake-up challenges: scanning a barcode on an object you've registered, and re-photographing a spot you've registered. Both are processed entirely on your device — nothing captured by the camera is uploaded or sent anywhere. If you choose to share a wake-streak card, the image is saved to your photo library only when you tap to save or share it, and only with your permission.

Motion & fitness data

Rizen reads motion data (from the accelerometer and pedometer) for the Step Count and Squats challenges, for detecting shakes, and for Smart Wake's light-sleep detection. This data is processed on your device in real time to run those features and is never stored beyond what's needed for the current alarm, and never transmitted anywhere.

Microphone

iOS asks Rizen to declare microphone usage because of the audio session it uses to keep your alarm audible through silent mode. Rizen does not record audio, and the microphone is never actually accessed.

Notifications

Rizen schedules your alarms as local notifications (and, on supported iOS versions, through Apple's AlarmKit) directly on your device. There is no push-notification server and no remote message involved.

In-app purchases

Any subscription or purchase in Rizen is handled entirely by Apple's App Store or Google Play billing. Payment details are processed by Apple or Google under their own privacy policies — Rizen never sees or stores your card details, and only receives confirmation that a purchase was made.

App updates

Rizen may check Expo's update servers to download over-the-air app updates. This connection shares standard technical information (such as app version and platform) needed to deliver the correct update, and nothing tied to your identity or in-app data.

Children's privacy

Rizen is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect information from anyone, of any age — there's simply nothing being collected.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the update will be posted on this page with a new "last updated" date.
